Security and Counter-surveillance Services

Michael Cannon specialises in safeguarding security, preserving reputations, privacy and confidentiality of ultra-high net worth families, business leaders in order to prevent situations with the potential to cause physical harm from unfolding, embarrassment or lead to serious family, commercial or political fallout.

To achieve this, Michael dovetails discreet and bespoke services seamlessly with clients’ everyday living or protocols.  This ensures that whatever is important to a client remains strictly confidential together with maximising their security and safety.

Early detection of hostile surveillance is one of the few security measures that allows threats to be dealt with, avoiding critical events such as crime, physical or reputational damage.

Despite this, many organisations do not have internal protocols to support detection and mitigation of surveillance risk. In addition security personnel, staff and advisors working in higher threat environments often have no formal training in hostile surveillance recognition. This can result in key warning signs being missed, at the cost of an organisation’s or individual’s privacy or safety.

To support clients Michael offers:

  • accredited training in surveillance detection so your own teams can help minimise the risk to you, your family and organisations

  • strategic assessments and guidance for individuals, family offices and organisations looking to better understand and minimise such risks.

Surveillance Detection Course (Intermediate)

Our one-day accredited training enables participants to recognise hostile surveillance at facilities, residences and events, and gives them the tools to respond appropriately. The course is designed for security staff, events personal, or household and personal staff supporting HNW families. Guidance is provided on actions staff can take to discourage external surveillance. Training then focuses on how to detect hostile surveillance, raise early warnings, and minimise opportunities for hostile information gathering.

Surveillance Detection Course (Advanced)

Our five-day training is designed to equip participants with the framework to implement the fundamentals of an effective surveillance mitigation program, whether directed at a facility, asset, planned/unplanned event, or planned by themselves. Training focuses on denying information gathering while affording early warning of targeting by detecting the indicators associated with hostile surveillance.  Advice is given on negating hostile information gathering while encouraging assailants to discount a site or individual at the initial target selection phase. Or to at least prime them to be anxious about being unable to meet their objective.

Counter-surveillance inspections

Whether you are due to embark on a sensitive activity or journey, private or commercial, you should never discount the risk of physical or technical surveillance. Technical surveillance can intercept valuable information about corporate strategies or personal relationships which can endanger their success or wellbeing.

The level of sophistication of a technical attack will generally be dependent on the attacker’s capability, budget and opportunity to deploy devices, enabled by vulnerabilities in a security regime. Technical attacks on vehicles are often the prelude to those on a premises.  Homes and vehicles where candid conversations take place are at more risk, as security systems are more easily defeated.

To counteract this risk, unscheduled Technical Surveillance Counter Measure (TSCM) inspections of the office, home, vehicle, executive jet and yacht must be considered as part of a measured security strategy.Whilst our bespoke anti-surveillance training can empower you to recognise physical surveillance yourself.
